Unerringly, they found the smooth contours of his mouth. Determined, I kept my lips pressed to his until I felt them soften. I saw my chance and I took it. His cool breath was brushing my cheek in short, heavy pants. It was then that I knew that he still felt it too, that he still wanted me as much as I wanted him. He was just resisting it. I needed this. I needed him, his passion. Bo remained strong despite his rising desire. Though he was no longer so stiff, I could tell that he was holding back, clinging tightly to his control.
I ached to be closer to him. My body throbbed for his touch. I craved him on a cellular level that screamed from the tip of every nerve, from every square inch of my flesh. To make matters worse, Bo is MIA for a majority of the book. He hasn't totally left the picture. He shows up periodically as an invisible vampire to check on Ridley, and there is at least one scene that is positively butterfly-inducing as she can feel him but not see him.
Knowing that Bo is still around helped me to appreciate this book and not spend so much time bummed out because our leading man has left the picture. There was some potential that this could turn into a big "whoa is me" cry fest of Ridley's depression, but Leighton is able to write the scenes without loading on too much Ridley funk.
It works perfectly. This is ultimately not a book about Ridley's sadness. This is a book about Bo and Ridley and exactly how they fit into this bizarre universe that is unfolding around them. I could see the big reveal that happens at the end of the book from a mile away. I knew exactly who was who and the possible danger that would evolve from that.
But instead of it ruining the book for me, it actually created more suspense. I knew the danger that Ridley was in, and I started yelling at my kindle early on, knowing that it made no difference, but hoping that Ridley would get a clue soon. Of course, that didn't happen, and I must say that some of the scenes in the book, especially the scenes in Chapters 11 and 12, ended up being very creepy and suspenseful. I'm glad I was reading them in the light of day rather than late at night as my family slept.
We now have a very well written set of villains for this series -- total creepers. The big Lilly reveal was a surprise, and that adds a level of suspense that will continue into the next book. I was glad to see that Trinity finally seemed to have some layers to her personality. She is not pure evil for this book, but there is still much more to discover about exactly what is going on with her and the other students.
None of them really take center stage in this book, but they are around, and it is clear that they are not to be ignored. My absolute favorite scenes in this book were the scenes between Bo and Ridley where Bo reached out to comfort Ridley in her times of need. When she finally broke down after all the craziness and danger around her finally was too much, Bo comforted her in such a sweet way. It was nice to see that side of their relationship. It added a depth to it that was nice to see.
And I am glad for the part of the big reveal that involved the two of them, even though it was told with an added twist that complicates things for them in the near future. But I sure love sweet Bo, and I have confidence that he'll get his girl in the end. So, this was a great addition to this series, and I'm super sad that I have to wait to get the third book to find out what happens to Bo and Ridley and Savannah too -- love her!
I'm sending good thoughts to the author, hoping for happy writing days ahead! Alexandria Nicole. Ridley has Bo back, well sort of, and yet something isn't right with them.
Something is keeping Bo away and it's killing Ridley. As Ridley finds out Bo's secrets, even before he does, she finds out more about herself. It's obvious to the reader who Ridley is and I can't believe she doesn't see it! But I do guess that teenage self-esteem does usually overrule logical thinking. In the end Ridley's life has sort of been set in motion for her, and it's definitely not one she was planning on, or even wants.
There are so many different things happening in this book that you're never bored. You're always finding out new information, particularly who Bo really is, or that someone else has turned up missing. I really liked certain elements of the book that were really original I'm not going to ruin anything with spoilers so I'll be a little vague like what happens to Savannah and her condition, or that vampires turn invisible when they're low on blood.
Parts of the ending I saw coming but definitely not all of it. I liked the ending too because for once the ending has something happening to the main character, not the person they love.
I really wish Goodreads let us give half stars because this would definitely be a 4. I am so stuck between 4 and 5 but I decided on a 4 only because there were some things at the end that I had questions about. I'm confused as to how not giving away spoilers the woman in the end helping out fits into the picture.
I want that explained and I'm hoping it will become clear in the third book, which I think it will, because we were really just introduced to her at the end.
But we also don't find out if a certain character died! I was SO curious and I know Ridley was too. And another character, a girl who's a vamp, but I'm thinking I just didn't catch it in the story. All in all, I can't wait for the third book! This was a great sequel to the first BLP!
Is it Winter yet? Fisher Amelie. Author 18 books 2, followers. From page one, there were twists and turns that kept me guessing with edge-of-your-seat 'What could she possibly do now? Ridley is a little bit lonely this book with a yearning for Bo that can seemingly never be quenched and my heart broke for her a little bit but that doesn't mean the reader doesn't get their much needed and incredibly anticipated Bo and Ridley time which, let's face it, makes the old ticker race in such pleasant ways as this author is a pro at writing their affectionate scenes.
I love the dynamic between these two characters as so much has been built between these two you're left wondering how Leighton will let it all tumble down and are hoping she gives them what they're fated to have.
Just as I expected, the ending leaves a lot of unanswered questions but fear not, because the third book in the series will be out in the winter of I just hate that I have to wait, as will you. Probably very badly. Everything was throbbing dully, as if to the beat of my heart. But strangely, considering that it was my legs that had taken the brunt of my fall, it was my chest that hurt the worst.
It felt like everything behind my sternum was shriveling up and dying. It was excruciating, so painful in fact that I was amazed I was still conscious. And my throat hurt, too. My mouth was dry as cotton, but I swallowed what little saliva I had. It did nothing to relieve the discomfort. The fire persisted. A familiar sound teased my ears. I stilled, listening as closely as I could. He was calling my name, over and over.
But he sounded far away, too far to be coming for me. I tried to open my mouth to call out to him, but no words left my tongue. Their characters are well developed and their relationship didn't seem rushed or forced. The issues that these two have to overcome are well thought out and will keep you up reading into the wee hours of the morning.
And let me just say that I'm glad that the second book is already available because the ending is incredible but it left me running to my Kindle to download the next part to my new obsession!! Leighton has made her way to my auto-buy authors list! Aug 11, Mandy Reads Indie Anderson rated it really liked it. Not to mention that M. Leighton is a pretty fabulous person. But up until this moment, I had yet to read anything thing by her.
And the minute I dived into this book I knew I would have to read more of her stuff. I mean for goodness sake Yep, a woman after my own heart. This vampire story was different than the others I have read and had a few twists to keep you interested throughout the book. For the Love of a Vampire: Blood Like Poison was a quick read and the fact it had some forbidden romance was an added plus!
I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Bo and Ridley in the other 2 books of the series. And as far as I know Oct 12, Fathima rated it it was amazing. OMG , the hotness tht is BO totally swoon - worthy and Ridley , i thought was a very mature female character. Loved the way she handles situation around her. The book ended with a lot of unanswered questions. I usually dont read books in the same series back to back , but i'm breaking tht rule for this one.

May 13, Carrie rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites , kindle. I love this author and I love this book! Normally, I find books that are very intense and passionate to be over-the-top and unrealistic. Leighton has an amazing talent for writing stories with such intense passion and yet they don't come across as cheesy and indulgent.
I became completely enraptured with the characters and their story! Ridley is so likeable and Bo is one of the best male lead characters I have read in a long time! I am so looking forward to the next installment in this WOW! I am so looking forward to the next installment in this series! I'm also looking forward to reading all of M. I am going to drown under that pile soon. But I'm loving this so far! May 16, Tabitha Schmer rated it really liked it.
This book was not what I was expecting It had everything from high school bullies, alcoholic parents, and abundance of car crashes, and vampires Nov 12, Stormy rated it liked it. I haven't read about vamps in a while, it seems. My mind was wondering a lot while reading this. I wondered how any of the vampire's lovers could kiss their vampire. Especially, after they have hunted. I mean, eww.
If I were them, I would tell my vampire to brush his incisors before making smoochy faces my way. But anyway, the vampires in this are like no other vampires I've read about before. It's original. There is this one line in th [image error] [image error] [image error] 3.
That is hilarious to me. Look for the commercial with the long ass Slim-Jim. I love that one. It seemed as though someone is always near death in this book. I mean, it happens a lot. I love Bo. I hated Edward for doing that and I will hate Bo for the same. Don't leave her! Learn from Edwards mistakes!
Who knows? She might fall for a werewolf while your gone. I don't know This book leaves you all scattered and you feel like you can't put your thoughts together until you get more of the story. So, I'm a scatter brain until I read the next. Sorry that's all I can leave you with. Feb 16, Erin rated it really liked it. Ridley is your typical highschool cheerleader, fairly self-absorbed and desperate to stay popular. She has her snotty group of friends, in particular Trinity, who's only concern is their image and winning their next cheerleading competition.
As much as Ridley is tired of the melodrama after her sister's death gave her new perspective, she still needs the scholarship to Stanford if she wants to escape her alcoholic mom and useless dad's home. Enter Bo, the mysterious and dark stranger she is sudd Ridley is your typical highschool cheerleader, fairly self-absorbed and desperate to stay popular. Enter Bo, the mysterious and dark stranger she is suddenly drawn to, a new student at her school.
There's something about him that draws her, and she can't seem to fight it. What she doesn't know is that he's a vampire, with deadly enemies who will put them both in grave danger. There were a lot of twists and tense moments in the plot that kept me intrigued with this story.
Leighton's vampires are a little different than the ones you typically read, which was refreshing. I definitely fell for Bo with his protectiveness over Ridley, I am always a sucker for the sexy strong bad boys!! There are many aspects of this story that I love. Mysterious sexy vampire Catty frienemy Dangerous villains lurking around every corner Steamy scenes Heroine who stands up for her man There were times I wanted to slap Ridley in the beginning of this book, I'll admit.
The cheerleading made her a little self-absorbed, and she kept allowing Trinity to be a total bitch without so much as a word from her. I wanted her to step up and stop Trinity from being so awful, the girl deserved a smack in the head big time!
I just loved Bo and Ridley though, their chemistry was perfect and I just wanted them to find a way to be together. We don't know much about Bo yet because he and Ridley went through so much drama and danger in this book, but I'm hoping to find out more as the series goes on.
So overall, I'm excited to see where things go with Bo and Ridley, because they definitely have the potential to be a great couple! Aug 13, Tee loves Kyle Jacobson rated it it was amazing. My Cover Thoughts: I love the cover! It is of a guy kissing a girl and you can see the passion on his face as he holds her tight to him. No one can come between them…. I started reading this book as a recommendation from an author friend Shelly Crane and I was not disappointed.
