Review Source: Capterra. Support is great, sale team is also very good. Love that you have a centralized console to monitor all the computers you you manage. They do not need to be in one physical location. The reporting is great and the instant notification if a computer because infected is something every IT pro needs. The console needs to sit on one computer. You can use the cloud version which fixes this problem but if you have many computers connects to the console the migration can be a pain.

Anthony from Lalor Dental. Company Size: employees. Time Used: Less than 2 years. It has been a good product. Has alerted us of attacks and prevented viruses coming through. Lot's of features and settings to tweak. Can create profiles for multiple devices. Doesn't use much resources when scanning. Can be difficult to find settings needed for certain tasks like exclusions and the like.

Sometimes the definitions do not update automatically requiring user intervention. Webroot was lacking in settings and was not great at detecting viruses. Industry: Retail. Was having and issue with network programs, but they were quick to get ahold of and helped us diagnose and resolve the issue. Easy to customize depending on which computer its installed on.

Can have separate policies for the server and each workstation if we wanted. Can maually or remotely scan devices. Now internet based and easy to use and send updates to the workstations. Easy to customer depending on the workstation and our needs. Can copy and edit to create different policies depending on our needs. Peter from New Era. Review Source. Tried to contact support but they could not find my license, which we paid money for a number of years back.

They refused to give me even a bit of support. So I not only does this antivirus not protect you, not only does it not even handle older viruses let alone any new threatas, not only does it not find your computers in your network and requires painful manual installation requiring dozens of hours. This product is absolutely not recommended. No amount of reboots handles this situation. You literally have to generate a MSI file from the server console and walk to each station physically to install the MSI.

And that install is painful again - on most computers it took us 5 five! Some computers even never got recognized, no matter how many times they were rebooted and re-installed.

That's a really poor show. And I am not alone with this - I have asked a few colleagues in other companies, and they all said this is a "normal" problem with Vipre, it always does this. Tried to update to the latest version - no change, still does the same. The worst part is that the detection rate is absolutely awful. If you look at the history of threat detection it usually finds nothing. On several workstations I ran a full deep scan with Vipre, and it found no threats at all.

Then ran a scan with Malwarebytes and it found 40 threats! All the way from really old threats like Conficker and a v5. Vipre had found nothing for weeks! Dallin from Protiviti. Company Size: 1,, employees. Industry: Accounting. I have used this software for a few years now. I bought the lifetime version and I believe it comes with regular updates as well. It was overall cheaper then doing the year-to-year. I've had problems with other anti-virus software where issues would still happen.

There have been no issues for years since I started with Vipre. Would highly recommend. The only downside is that it costs money, but protecting your assets and personal information is well-worth the cost! Keith from The Summit Windsor. Industry: Entertainment. After being an end user at work, I was pleased with it enough to evaluate it for my home domain server needs and the small number of clients connected to it. I found that it does meet my needs as a home user quite well.

Any questions I've ever had post sale with their customer support center have been answered completely and timely. I feel their pricing structure is on-spot for those looking for a good solution without breaking the bank. The auto-update for the clients is a nice feature too, as it saves me from having to worry that the clients are up to date. It seems that the software can be easily disabled based on the complaints of some users who have reported being infected with ransomware or other malware that snuck by.

The Admin may allow certain Power Users to control their settings. Best practices is to limit User access to settings. David from Centerline Solutions.

I tested Vipre with a variety of penetration tests and it stopped most attacks immediately. I threw a littany of attacks at Vipre and it immediately recognised and stopped all but those I ran by eminating an HID device for which I had physical access to the computer. While there are certainly ways to bypass Vipre, it has, in my experience and research, a constantly updated list of attacks and an immediate response time.

The power of this software also makes it a less desirable target for attacks as one could spend much less time creating an attack for a weaker and more commonly used program. When Vipre runs a scan it takes up a ridiculous amount of processing power. That said, scheduled the full scans for the middle of the night and you should be good to go.

Sometimes malware gets through, but that is true of every product, it can still be annoying. Jeff from Gilliland Veterinary Service. Industry: Veterinary. Overall it has been excellent identifying issue with any computer on my server, ID the issue and automatically taking steps to mitigate any harm. The software works in the background and does a complete scan daily. Any issues are sent to both my IT administrator and myself. No issues what so ever.

It has worked as advertised without any problems. Aaron from IT service. Industry: Marketing and Advertising. Works well and I like the product. Would recommend to users that are not as worried about security. This works great on home based computers or home based businesses. Blocks a lot and gives a lot of options for managing. I would not use in a big business with all the other options that are out there.

Eve from Dynamic Sports Nutrition. Industry: Health, Wellness and Fitness. Great company to work with! Their software is great and continuously updated. There isn't a single issue we have had with this software. For several years Viper was not compatible for Mac, however that has changed and all is well.

Dennis from Premier Community Bank. Industry: Banking. Very positive experience and little or no issues with this product. Sunbelt's tech support experts are among the few who know how to make Windows Installer work in Safe Mode, but even this effort was blocked by policies the malware put in place. Tech support supplied a link to Sunbelt's command-line scanner, which completely solved the problem.

Most vendors affected by this problem do manage to get past it, though not always as elegantly as Sunbelt did. Another system, destabilized by partial removal of a kernel-mode malware sample, went into a blue-screen death spiral. Sunbelt tech support came through again, advising me to temporarily disable active protection and rootkit scanning. I ran a quick scan that solved the blue-screen problem, then reversed the configuration changes and ran a full scan. VIPRE lists threats as it finds them and reports how long the scan has been running; on scans after the first it offers an estimate of time remaining.

At about 25 minutes to scan my standard clean system, I found it to be reasonably fast. After all of the scans completed, I checked the product's success using my own tools, giving it full credit for removal if it wiped out all executable traces of a threat and half-credit if it tried but didn't get all the executables. It detected every single one of the malware samples and successfully removed most of them. However, the handful that weren't fully removed included a couple of rootkits that were still functional, which is not good.

It did reboot and run its boot-time scan on the majority of the test systems. VIPRE's score for this test was 9. VIPRE didn't do quite as well when tested against commercial keyloggers in place of malware. It missed a couple of the samples and didn't fully remove all of those it did detect. It scored 6. But I give much less weight to the commercial keylogger test since these can only be installed by someone with full physical and password access to your computer.

Clicking on a file is enough to trigger VIPRE's scan, and it wiped out two-thirds of my malware installers on sight. It didn't waste time asking me whether to delete the files—it just did the job and reported its action. VIPRE's real-time protection reported on each file at least four times—it's very enthusiastic. Fortunately there's a box you can check to acknowledge all pending notifications about the program in question. That's handy.

Next I started installing the samples that survived this initial culling. VIPRE detected every one of these samples at some point during the installation process and successfully prevented almost all of them from installing executable files on the system.

VIPRE scored 9. SDAV6 did allow a handful of threats to install executables on the test system, but in every single case it suppressed those executables from launching. The Vipre interface is one of the cleanest we've seen on an antivirus product.

It's intuitive and easy to use. Your system status is displayed along the left-hand window, while the right side displays current worldwide threats and the latest local scan results for your machine. Four tabs across the top take you to the overview page, scan, manage, and tools.

Features What we like is that Vipre packs a lot of extras, extras that other antivirus products should have but often do not. In addition to antivirus and antispyware protection, there are useful tools such as a secure file eraser that writes 1s and 0s over deleted files, a history cleaner that goes beyond just what's in your Internet browser cache, and something called PC Explorer, which reveals processes and services running that might be suspect or known to be malicious.

Many of these tools are also featured within Sunbelt Software's standalone antispyware product, CounterSpy v2. Performance Short of final code and formal testing, we cannot say how Vipre performs relative to other antivirus products on the market.
